How has theatre impacted your life?
Theatre has impacted my life by giving me a voice when I did not always feel I had one. I have met some of the most amazing people because of the performing arts. I would be on a much different and scary path if I had not met my acting and vocal coaches.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from theatre?
I know this sounds so cheesy and clichéd, but the most important lesson I’ve learned from theatre is love. When I first started theatre, I was very closed minded and ignorant. With time, it has truly opened not only my mind but also my heart.

What has been your favorite theatre experience so far?
I have a lot of favorite theatre moments but being part of the Kansas all-state musical Bring It On is my favorite. It was such an amazing experience, and I grew so much as a performer. The relationships I made there I will remember for a lifetime.

Who is your theatre hero?
My theatre hero without hesitation is Billy Porter. This man is the true definition of a powerhouse tenor. His voice commands you to listen, his fashion pushes social norms, and his message is one of love and acceptance. He has truly inspired me in the theatrical and real world.

What theatrical character or show best describes your life?
Shrek, hands down, describes my life best. Shrek started off very pessimistic and bitter; all it took was two TRUE friends to help open his mind and his heart. Shrek’s overall message is love and acceptance for who people are. I try every day to live like this, and that is why I feel it describes my life the best.
