How has theatre impacted your life?
Theatre has impacted my life in amazing ways. Theatre has introduced me to some of my greatest friends and closest family. Theatre has taught me how to be confident, empathetic, and a leader. Nothing else could compare to the adrenaline rush of a ‘Places!’ call, the tears of laughter from countless inside jokes, or the support received from my theatre family. Nothing else has impacted me in the amazing way theatre has.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from theatre?
A lesson I’ve learned from theatre is that hard work pays off. Hearing the words “I’m so proud of you!” from my parents, theatre director, or audience members will never get old. I love being able to put on a show people never forget, which is why I always try to put my best effort into every role I receive.

What has been your favorite theatre experience so far?
My favorite theatre experience was going to the International Thespian Festival my freshman year. It was my first year at ITF, and the experience was so wonderful and amazing. I could not believe how many other kids loved theatre as much as I did. I made great friendships and had fun meeting new people every day. It has been my favorite theatre experience by far.

Who is your theatre hero?
My theatre hero is Idina Menzel. First, she has a beautiful voice and was on Glee, which is one of my favorite television shows. She’s been in some of my favorite Broadway shows and is everything I could ever hope to be as an actress. She’s also connected to a number of charities and really cares about other theatre lovers.

What theatrical character or show best describes your life?
A theatrical show that describes my life is Company. I relate to this show because it has often seemed to me that everyone around me has a significant other while I do not. It took me a long time to realize it’s OK to be by myself.
