Bakari Jamal King, (that’s @kingbakari on Insta…follow him!) a teacher at University School of Nashville, breaks down five basic steps everyone should know:

  • Step-touch
  • Grapevine
  • Jazz square
  • Pivot turn
  • Chassé/Rock step

“Practice makes progress,” he says. “If you continue, you’re going to learn, and you’re going to get better and better and better.” When it comes to dance, King helps you take failure out of the equation.
